Stored value cards

A stored-value card is a dedicated payments card with a monetary value stored in the card itself. Here the amount is not stored in a separate bank account.
In the case of debit cards, there is the money with the bank, or in the case of credit card the money is to be loaned subject to credit limits. Another difference between stored-value cards and debit/credit cards is that the latter are issued in the name of individual account holders. On the other hand, stored-value cards are anonymous, as in the case of gift cards. Stored-value cards are prepaid money cards and are disposed when the value is used as in the case of a mobile prepaid card.
