Sector Skill Councils

Sector Skill Councils are industry led bodies created by NSDC to meet the industry specific demand for skilled people through the support of skill generation activities. The main feature of SSCs is that they are industry created bodies and hence knows the aspirations of the industry while engaging in skill addition programmes. Effectively, the SSCs bring together various stakeholders in the industry, including private sector, labor, academia and the government, to realize the skill requirements of the economy. Around 40 SSCs are in operation (as on September 1st, 2017) in various sectors including- agriculture, automotive, banking and financial services, capital goods, gems and Jewellery, healthcare, IT, logistics, media and entertainment, etc.
