Reverse repo rate

Reverse repo rate is an interest rate given by the RBI to commercial banks when the latter parks one-day deposits with the RBI. The deposit is made by banks as they have temporary excess money with them. Usually, the reverse repo rate is changed in the same direction, when the repo rate is changed. The entire operation is done as a part of the RBI’s Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF).
