Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a Skill Certification Scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with the objective of enabling large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training. The programme was launched in 2015. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Training and Assessment fees are completely paid by the Government. The Ministry has set a target of skilling and certifying 10mn youth between 2016-20. PMKVY has six components including: short term training and recognition of prior learning.
Under short term training, dropouts from educational institutions will be trained according to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). Training Centres will impart training in Soft Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial and Digital Literacy etc.
