National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme

Government of India has launched ‘National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme’ (NAPS) in August 2016 to promote apprenticeship. It aims to provide apprenticeship training to 50 lakh youth by 2020. Main feature of the programme is that the center will subsidize apprenticeship stipend to trainees.
Under the scheme, Government of India will share 25% of stipend subject to a maximum of Rs 1500 per month per apprentice with the employers. Government will also share maximum Rs 7500 per fresher apprentice (without any formal trade training) as a cost of basic training with Basic Training Providers.
