Human Development Index (HDI)


The HDI is the composite index adopted by UNDP to measure development, UNDP’s Human Development Report prepares HDI ranking annually. The HDI was developed by Dr Mehbub Ul Haq and Prof Amartya Sen.

HDI uses different human development indicators to measure the development of countries. There are three important variables in measuring HDI of the UNDP. They are: life expectance of the individuals, adult literacy and GNP Per capita income.
