Char Dham Project

 

Char Dham project is aimed to construct 900 km of National Highways in Uttarakhand for improving connectivity to the Char Dham pilgrimage centres in the Himalaya region. The project involves widening of the existing highways to two-lane carriageway with paved shoulders, protect landslide hazard zones, construct bypasses, long bridges, tunnels and elevated corridors to ensure safety for the users. Launched in 2016 December, the project has an outlay of Rs. 12,000 crores.
