The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank aimed to support infrastructure projects in Asia-Pacific region. It was launched on January 16, 2016 by the Chinese President Xi Jinping and has its headquarters in Beijing. The AIIB is modeled on World Bank and has 56 members including regional and non-regional members. Regional members have higher voting power compared to well affluent non-regional members. India is a founder member of the AIIB and is the second largest vote share after China.
