Inflation Targeting

Inflation targeting is a monetary policy framework or strategy in which central bank sets a target inflation rate and then, attempts to guide actual inflation towards the target through the use of its key policy rate (repo rate).
Though Inflation Targeting can be casually described as an approach or strategy; technically it is a Monetary Policy Framework (MPF). The MPF constitute the arrangement behind monetary policy implementation.
India follows inflation targeting monetary policy framework from August 2016onwards.
