IDFs are investment vehicles for channelizing investment into the infrastructure sector. Infrastructure Debt Funds are investment vehicles created to channelize debt funds into the infrastructure sector. As per regulations, IDF can be in two forms- as a trust or as a company. If the IDF is created as a company, it should register as an IDF-NBFC and will be regulated by RBI.
